Irsay was arrested March 16, 2014 driving in Carmel.

A Hamilton County court has suspended Colts owner Jim Irsay s driver s license for one year, effective May 27.

The court told the Bureau of Motor Vehicles it should immediately suspend Irsay s license because he refused to take a blood test after he was arrested1 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The suspension is mandatory under state law for refusal of a blood test when police want to check to see whether you are impaired.

Irsay was stopped while driving slowly near Horseferry Road and Main Street in Carmel on March 16. Police were later able to draw blood after getting a warrant.

A police report also indicated they found a variety of prescription drugs2 in Irsay s car, along with $29,000.

Irsay has been attending an out-of-state addiction recovery program3.

He is being charged with two counts of impaired driving, which is a misdemeanor.

Irsay s initial court hearing is scheduled for June 19, and he recently spent time in a rehabilitation facility, the name and location of which were not made public.

Network Indiana contributed to this report.
