TSRTC proposes long-distance services

Summary: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has proposed to ply long distance bus services to Mumbai, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Shirdi to mobilise additional revenue. The Transport Minister held the meeting as a follow up to the Budget review meeting chaired by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao on February 17 with special focus on TSRTC. It was one of the key proposals discussed in the review meeting held by Transport Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy at Transport Academy, Hakimpet, here on Friday. Mr.Mahender Reddy said that priority should be given for providing as many services as required by passengers though they could pose a burden on the corporation. Passenger and road safety should get top priority, he added.

Telangana State Road Transport Corporation has proposed to ply long distance bus services to Mumbai, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Shirdi to mobilise additional revenue. It was one of the key proposals discussed in the review meeting held by Transport Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy at Transport Academy, Hakimpet, here on Friday. The meeting also considered running air conditioned buses from every district headquarters to the State capital, introducing mini buses wherever feasible and improvement of basic facilities in all bus stations.

The meeting attended by Transport Department secretary Sunil Sharma , RTC joint managing director G.V.Ramana Rao and executive directors, regional managers and head of departments essentially focused on improving internal efficiencies and capabilities apart from garnering more revenue. The Transport Minister held the meeting as a follow up to the Budget review meeting chaired by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhara Rao on February 17 with special focus on TSRTC. Mr.Mahender Reddy said that priority should be given for providing as many services as required by passengers though they could pose a burden on the corporation. He directed the officials to coordinate with the Transport department in checking illegal transport by private vehicles and overloading of passengers in Magic cabs, jeeps, autorickshaws and seven seater autorickshaws.
