A 15-year-old girl was killed in a horrifying crash Monday night when the SUV she was in slammed into an unmanned firetruck that was blocking a lane due to an earlier rollover accident.

The girl’s friend, also 15 and her friend’s father, 34-year-old Charles Horn are both in critical condition after the crash in southeastern Michigan, according to WDIV[2].

The Ypsilanti Township Fire Department truck had stopped and was blocking the lane for an earlier accident on I-94.

The firetruck, which authorities said had emergency lights on, was so badly damaged that responders were unable to get to the Jaws of Life to assist the victims out of the SUV and had to call another fire engine to use theirs.

‘Frustrating… It’s a hard thing knowing that people need immediate help and you’re not able to assist the victims,’ said Ypsilanti Fire Chief Max Anthouard.

Authorities said all three were wearing seatbelts.
