A 15-year-old girl died in a car crash while riding with her high school friend and his father after their vehicle slammed into a parked firetruck.

Christina Snyder was riding with her pal, Michelle Horn, also 15, and Michelle’s father, Charles Horn, on Monday about 11pm on Interstate 94 when police say their car slammed into a firetruck.

The truck had been stopped to block traffic from a rollover crash in Ypsilanti, Michigan, according to MLive[2].

Snyder died at the hospital. Charles Horn, 34, and daughter Michelle remain in critical condition. They were all from Ypsilanti.

The teens were freshmen at Lincoln High School, said the outlet.

Horn had a lengthy driving record that included failing to stop for a school bus, having no proof of insurance, speeding, failure to display license during a traffic stop, lack of seatbelt, and two instances of disobeying a traffic signal, reported MLive.

In 2013, he was involved in a two vehicle crash in Ypsilanti Township for which he failed to stop, said the outlet.

In that case, a car was reportedly stopped and he ran into it while speeding.

He fled the scene but a witness got his license plate number.

His license was suspended in October 2015 and remained suspended until March 2017.

He failed to show up in court on a license hearing at one point.

From November 2013 to February 2014, he was in prison after snatching a woman’s purse, said the outlet.

He also reportedly has an armed robbery conviction, but there were no details on the crime.

Police said that all three were wearing seatbelts during the collision and it’s not known if alcohol or drugs were involved, but that speed doesn’t appear to be a factor.

Online, a few people claiming to know Charles Horn claimed that the firetruck had its lights off at the time of the crash, making it difficult to see.

But the Ypsilanti Fire Department said it had its emergency lights on at the time, according to Fox 2[3].
