Road block in protest not acceptable: Quader

Blocking road, halting traffic and causing sufferings for the people in the name of protest is not acceptable, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today. “This can’t be way of protest,” Quader said referring to the student’s movement of Jahangirnagar University which sparked following the death of two students. “If the driver committed offence, he will be punished.

But for this, you can’t cause suffering to thousands of people halting traffic,” said Obaidul, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League. He was speaking before a at a views exchange meeting with Bangladesh Road Transport Authority’s officials at BRTA head office. He also talked about the death of a Dhaka University student at a private hospital, the subsequent vandalism there by fellow students and Bangladesh Medical Association’s abstain from work for a day.

Obaidul said: “If she died of mistreatment, the doctor can be made accountable.

But vandalising a hospital for this can’t be way of protest.

On the other hand, “going for strike” for this reason is also not acceptable”.
