Driver left with minor injuries after lorry overturns blocking A68 near Corbridge

A driver was treated for minor injuries after his lorry overturned blocking a road for five hours. The A68 near Corbridge was closed for several hours on Tuesday evening after a white Volvo Tipper Truck tipped over and blocked the road.[1][2] Police and paramedics were at the scene, near the Stagshaw Roundabout and the Errington Arms pub, with both lanes of the carriageway blocked from around 4pm.

The tipper truck was heading south from Barrasford Quarry from the collision happened. The North East Ambulance Service dispatched[3] a double-crewed ambulance and a hazardous area response team and the driver was taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries. No one else was injured.

Motorists were being diverted via the B6318 and the A6079 until the road re-opened shortly after 8pm.

Police say they are investigating what happened and are asking anyone who has any information or witnessed the collision to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 713 01/08/17.
