Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus mows down three, truck averts disaster

Hyderabad: A city bus belonging to the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) went berserk killing three persons and injuring three others besides crushing three two-wheelers and an auto on a narrow bridge in Vijayawada on Friday morning.

However, about 50 passengers present inside the bus at the time of the accident were relieved of the panic only after the bus stopped after hitting a truck at the end of the bridge. “God has saved us through the truck. Otherwise, we all would have met with a watery gory,” the passengers said after coming out of the bus. The bus belonging to Governorpet depot was proceeding from Gannavaram to Budameru in the morning, when the brakes are said to have failed.

However, the RTC officials refuse to believe the brakes failure theory. “There is no scope for the brakes to fail. The bus has duel brakes. If the service brake fails, the driver can apply the hand brake.

But, he has told us that both the brakes had failed. We can come to a conclusion only after inspecting the vehicle. Currently, the bus is seized by the police,” RTC Governorpet depot manager Rajesh Kumar told Mirror.

He also said the bus was in good condition with seven lakh kilometers service so far. It was recently refurbished. READ ALSO:
