Elon Musk promises to 'blow your mind' with Tesla semi truck unveiling

After teasing Tesla’s upcoming electric semi truck[1] for months, Elon Musk is finally ready to show off the big vehicle in its full glow. The company has planned an event for November 16 (Thursday) and has sent out invites for the unveiling. The billionaire tech mogul wants Tesla fans spread across the globe to join the party.

On 12 November, Musk tweeted out to millions of his fans, inviting them to watch the live webcast of the event at 8pm PT. The Tesla CEO, who has hailed the heavy-duty vehicle on several occasions in the past, fanned expectations saying: “This will blow your mind clear out of your skull and into an alternate dimension.” Originally, the unveiling of the electric semi was scheduled for 26 October[2], but the company had to push the launch a few weeks ahead to conserve resources to increase Model 3 production volumes[3] as well as battery deliveries to hurricane-hit Puerto Rico and other regions.

Apart from the teaser image shared by Musk on Instagram, not much is known about the Tesla semi. The billionaire had dubbed the vehicle as “unreal” and a “beast”. In August, a Reuters report suggested that the battery-powered truck will have an approximate range of 200-300 miles.

It was also indicated that the vehicle would have autonomous capabilities and move in “platoons” or convoy formation[4], with one manned vehicle in the lead. None of these reports have been confirmed by the electric carmaker. Tesla has not opened the livesteam feed for the launch, but expect the window to open as the big day approaches.

Usually, product unveilings from the company are livestreamed via its website[5] or YouTube channel[6], so keep checking.
