The Coca-Cola Christmas truck is back for 2017

Coca-Cola has finally revealed the stops for its annual Christmas Truck Tour. Each year, the iconic truck embarks on a tour of UK towns and cities to give out samples in the name of seasonal goodwill. But it’s not so good for Leicester[1] – as the city has been left off the schedule.

The big red truck won’t be making a stop in Leicester on the 2017 tour, as it skips the city entirely.

The snub comes after MP Keith Vaz spoke out about the company’s decision to visit Leicester in 2015. Vaz, who has diabetes, criticised Coca-Cola for giving out samples of its high sugar products.

In a statement at the time he said: “The Coca-Cola truck is not welcome in Leicester, and this national tour to promote sugar-laden drinks is ill-judged and unwise at a time of record diabetes and obesity levels. “Coca Cola have said the truck will not be giving their products to younger children, but this is clearly unenforceable.”

The truck still visited Leicester on December 17 of that year – but won’t be returning this Christmas.
