Major road closed after truck flips onto side in crash

A major road out of Liverpool was partly closed after a pickup truck flipped on its side. A specialist team from the fire service had to rescue the driver from the overturned Ford Ranger 4×4 after it collided with a Ford Mondeo on Derby Road, Kirkdale[1] . Police and ambulance services also attended the crash at around 10am this morning, near Sandhills railway station and the junction with Sandhills Lane.

Both drivers are reported to have escaped without serious injuries, but the 4×4 driver was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital for further checks. Dramatic photos of the scene show the battered front of the Ford Mondeo and car parts strewn across the road next to the overturned truck.
