A driver has narrowly cheated death as a metal roof sent flying towards his car on a highway in southern China[2].

Driver, surnamed Ou-Yang, steered his car to the right immediately in a bid to dodge the rectangular object flying towards him.

Mr Ou-Yang remained unharmed, however, his black car was hit by the metal and the windows were broken.

A red metal cover flies across the road barrier and smashing into Mr Ou-Yang’s car

According to a report[3] by Central China Television, Mr Ou-Yang was driving on G56 Hangzhou-Ruili highway last week.

Dashcam footage shows a large piece of metal flying in mid air and landing towards Mr Ou-Yang’s car when he was driving at Change of Hunan Province at 11:16am.

Mr Ou-Yang was driving at about 120 kilometres per hour (75 mph).

‘There was about three seconds for me to response and my instinct told me to turn right to avoid being hit,’ he told the reporter.

Mr Ou-yang’s car windows, bumper and rear mirrors were broken.

Changde traffic policemen inspected surveillance camera footage and found the piece of metal came off from a red lorry.

Mr Ou-Yang steered his car to the right but the metal hit his car and smashed the windows

Traffic policemen found the truck roof missing on a red lorry and identified the driver after

The metal was confirmed to be a truck roof from a red lorry marked with ‘JAC’.

It can been seen flying across the lanes before hitting Mr Ou-Yang’s car in the opposite direction.

Police officer identified lorry driver, Mr Liu, and took him to the police station for details.

Dong Mingming, an on-duty traffic policeman said: ‘This is the lorry driver’s full responsibility and he should bear the full compensation to Mr Ou-Yang.’

Mr Liu has violated China’s traffic regulations for installing dangerous machinery, according to Officer Dong.

He was given a fine of 200 yuan (GBP23).
