Krishna tops in Andhra Pradesh in Road Transport Authority revenue collection

VIJAYAWADA: The Road Transport Authority (RTA), Krishna, has emerged top in the State by collecting a revenue of Rs 420.08 crore in the 2017-18 fiscal.The Krishna district has contributed 14% of the State’s total revenue collection of Rs 3,044 crore. When contacted, deputy transport commissioner E Meera Prasad said that the department had registered 19.5% growth compared to last year in revenue collection. While total collection in 2016-17 was Rs 351 crore, it rose to Rs 420 crore in the 2017-18 fiscal. ”We had achieved 19.50 per cent growth by conducting vehicle checking in a planned way and collecting penalties from road tax defaulters,” he said.

Meera Prasad said that life tax contributed Rs 184 crore as against the target of Rs 186 crore. While the quarterly tax collections stood at Rs 119 crore as against target Rs 130 crore, service charge collections stood at Rs 13 crore as against the target of Rs 14 crore. Rs 30 crore collected from detection against the target of Rs 37 crore and Rs 74 crore collected as fee as against target of Rs 51 crore, he added.
