Brit builder dies in horror dumper truck crash while working on expat holiday home in France

A British builder was crushed to death when a dumper truck he was driving turned upside down while he was working on a holiday home complex in France. Witnesses who arrived on the scene called the emergency services but a medical team could not revive the man who was declared dead at the scene. He suffered severe head wounds, a source has said.

The accident happened at about 3.30pm today in Hautefaye, a village in the Dordogne, around 95 miles north east of Bordeaux.

An investigating source said the 47-year-old man, who has not been identified, was doing work on properties belonging to British expats. A source said: “The man was on his own shifting earth around the properties when the dumper truck he was in turned over. “The truck had a full load at the time.

The driver was crushed, and suffered severe head wounds.”

The victim was working on a renovation project.

Local prosecutors supported by judicial police[1] have opened an investigation into the tragedy, as is routine in such circumstances.
