A woman has been left with serious head and leg injuries after a suspected hit-and-run.

The 20-year-old was crossing a road in Villawood, west of Sydney, when she was hit by what has been described by police as ‘a small black truck with a cage on the back’, police said.

The green walk signal was lit when she crossed Woodville Street at the intersection of Tangerine Street at 9.35pm on Thursday, police said.
