Horrifying footage of an unrestrained dog flying off the back of a moving ute has emerged

‘The driver was going a bit over 100KM and the poor pup had jumped out the ute into oncoming traffic. My sister had flagged down the driver to pull over but was unable to get the number plate.’

The video attracted a number of comments condemning the driver’s behaviour.

‘It should be illegal to have your dog on the back of utes like that.

If you had any love for your dog you would have it in the car with you, or at home where they are safe,’ one person said.

The RSPCA has been made aware of the video.

‘When transporting a dog in a vehicle, RSPCA Victoria recommends that the dog is safely restrained at all times.

Ideally, a dog would be restrained inside a vehicle.

‘However, if the dog is transported on a trailer or tray of a ute, it should be tethered or restrained in a manner that prevents the dog from falling, hanging off or being injured.’

The welfare of the dog is unknown.
