King Khalid International Airport set to launch cargo village

The Governor of Riyadh Region, Faisal bin Bandar, laid the cornerstone of the cargo village at King Khalid International Airport (KKIA), according to Riyadh Airports Company. The cargo village, which is expected to be a multi-modal shipment and clearance destination, is set to transform Saudi Arabia into a global logistics hub.

The village, the first-of-its-kind in the region, will be spread over 275,000 square meters and have a 1.6 million tons capacity. It will also provide shipping and express cargo services. During the ceremony, the shipping terminal of the Saudi Logistics Services Company “SAL” with a capacity of 600,000 tons pa and the Naqel Express cargo terminal with a capacity of 40,000 tons pa were inaugurated.

Also, six entities obtained licenses to start construction and development works, including Saudi Post Authority, Zagel Shipping Co., Aramex, TNT and others.
