The Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency says its newly inaugurated night patrol team has impounded a total of 60 vehicles for violating traffic rules and regulations.

The Executive Chairman, OYRTMA, Dr Akin Fagbemi, made the disclosure in Ibadan, the state capital, after the first round of night patrol in the city.

Fagbemi said, “In the course of the operations, 12 heavy-duty articulated trucks, 11 motorcycles, nine tricycles and 28 cabs and buses were impounded for flagrantly violating traffic rules and regulations along the identified routes.”

He said the vehicles were impounded along Iwo Road Interchange; Agodi-Gate Bus Stop, Mokola Roundabout, Academy and the Toll Gate along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, between 6pm on Thursday, March 5 and 2:10am on Friday, March 6.

“This patrol is sequel to several public complaints on the recently noticeable traffic gridlocks occasioned by unruly drivers and illegal parking at certain parts of the state in the course of the night.”
