Peterborough Lincoln Road 'murder' suspect admits manslaughter of forklift truck driver Audrius Lapinskas

A man has admitted killing a forklift truck driver who was found collapsed in the street. Audrius Lapinskas, 30, was found near the junction of Lincoln Road and Northfield Road, Peterborough on the evening of Sunday January 5. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but never recovered and died there shortly after the incident.

A post-mortem examination later concluded that Audrius had been assaulted before his death. Initially, police launched a murder investigation, as they cordoned off a large section of Lincoln Road for 18 hours and forensics teams scoured the scene for evidence. Now, however, the man originally charged with Audrius’ murder has appeared in court and admitted a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Audrius had moved to Peterborough in 2010, where he had worked as a forklift truck driver there until he died.

“He found a job and was still working there up until the date,” Gintaras said. “He was a very good worker, his employer was always happy with him.

“Maybe that’s why they kept him for 10 years.”
