Massive haul of Latex gloves worth nearly £100k stolen from truck in layby

Latex gloves worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from the back of a truck. The HGV was parked in a layby on the northbound carriageway of the A42, Ashby, between junctions 12 and 13, when the more than GBP90,000 worth of gloves were stolen. The curtain sides of the trailer were slashed sometime between 11.30pm on Thursday, July 30, and 7.30am on Friday, July 31.

In total, 13 pallets containing more than 1,000 boxes of latex gloves were stolen from the trailer. Now officers from Leicestershire police are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch. They want to speak to speak to anyone who may have been travelling along the A42 during the night of Thursday into Friday and saw any suspicious activity in the layby.

A spokesman for the force said: "The suspects would have required a large vehicle to take the items away.

"If anyone saw a vehicle other than the HGV pictured in the layby we ask that you get in touch.

"Also if anyone has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles, we would ask that they check the footage as they may have captured the incident."
