India-Bangladesh ties are smoother, warmer than ever: Bangladesh Road Transport Minister

New Delhi: Obaidul Quader, Minister of Road Transport of Bangladesh, said that the India-Bangladesh relations have never been as firm and strong like the last few years. It is being claimed that China is trying to entice Bangladesh with massive investments to join hands with it. The statement made by Quader becomes significant against this background.

A videoconference was organised to review the projects undertaken in Bangladesh with loans obtained from India. Riva Ganguly Das, Indian Ambassador to Bangladesh, and other senior officials from the road transport ministry participated in the conference.    For some time now, the India-Bangladesh relations are strengthening rapidly.

Quader said that this would help in resolving the long-standing issues. Both countries have settled the land and marine border issues. This is an ideal example to resolve other long-standing problems.

He told the officials that the focus should be on these projects, which are the symbol of the friendly relations between the two countries.    Only last month, Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla visited Bangladesh. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had said that the Indian Prime Minister had underlined the importance of the India-Bangladesh relations by sending the Indian Foreign Secretary to Bangladesh.

China is trying to entangle Bangladesh in its trap.

It was being claimed that the Chinese influence in Bangladesh was increasing, given the Chinese investments in Bangladesh.

Against this background, the statement made by Quader become significant.
