Vehicles with insurance can be used without road tax

PETALING JAYA: Motorists may still operate their vehicles with a valid insurance certificate (e-cover note) although the renewal of road tax for private vehicles at post offices nationwide has been suspended until March 31. Pos Malaysia announced in a statement that the instruction was from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) following renewal exemption during the movement control order period. "Following the Transport Ministry's road tax and driver licence renewal exemption for MCO 2.0, licensed drivers may still operate their motor vehicles with a valid vehicle insurance certificate (e-cover note), " said the statement which was posted on Pos Malaysia's Facebook page yesterday.

It also said that all other services, including driving licence and vehicle insurance renewals, are still available at all post offices nationwide.

"We apologise for any inconvenience, " Pos Malaysia said, adding that Malaysians could reach out to them via AskPos at or through the Pos Malaysia mobile app.
