Fatal Fiery Tanker Truck Crash Shuts Down I-70 Lanes in Maryland

Someone died after a fiery crash involving a tanker truck on Interstate 70 Tuesday, according to Maryland State Police, but their identity has not been confirmed.

The truck rolled over and then burst into flames on eastbound I-70 near New Market, state police said. Traffic was delayed during the evening rush hour. As of 10:00 p.m., the eastbound lanes of I-70 remained closed for cleanup and investigation.

The flames could be seen by air from Chopper4.

Fuel could be seen pouring out of the flaming truck around 4 p.m. Crews appeared to be letting it burn off.  Information was not immediately released on why the crash may have occurred.
