Minivan driver suffers life-threatening injuries in crash with transport truck

The driver of a minivan was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash with a transport truck in Essex Tuesday morning. At approximately 8 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision at County Roads 15 and 18. The crash caused both vehicles to leave the roadway.

Both ultimately came to a stop on their sides in a water-filled ditch. The driver of the transport truck was not injured. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

County Road 15 is closed between 6th Concession and 8th Concession. County Road 18 is closed between Walker Road and Giardini Sr. Road.

Police expect the roadways to be closed “for some time” as the OPP technical collision investigation team assists with the investigation, according to a news release from police on Tuesday.
