An elderly couple who vanished on Tuesday are still missing despite several sightings and an ongoing search.

Otto and Gerda, both 87, from Bentleigh in Melbourne’s south-east were last seen leaving a car park on Kings Way around 6.30pm on Tuesday in their gold Lexus.

Victoria Police said the pair were spotted at least twice on Wednesday night, but responding officers found no sign of them.

The search continues for missing Bentleigh couple Gerda (left) and Otto (right) after their gold Lexus Sedan was found on Wednesday

The couple’s sedan, with registration PYM-184, was first seen bogged near a lake north of Rainbow in Victoria about 5pm on Wednesday.

Police believe they were assisted by a truck driver and were seen driving north on Henty Highway towards Hopetoun.

The car was then spotted again on Sealake-Birchip Road in Birchip at about 9.10pm by a passer-by who drove past a parked gold sedan with two people inside.

But when police arrived the vehicle was gone.

Concerned family members raised the alarm on Wednesday morning after the couple failed to attend a prearranged medical appointment.

The couple’s disappearance is out of character as they are usually in regular contact with family.

Police hold concerns for Otto and Gerda’s welfare as both require ongoing medical treatment.

The couple’s daughter Sylvie, said she spoke to her parents four days ago after making a desperate plea for them to return home.

She said her father has a heart condition and both parents have short term memory loss.

The pair are known to frequent the casino and restaurant in Brighton once a week.

Otto is described as 180cm tall, medium build with balding white hair and blue eyes.

Gerda is described as 170cm tall with short curly white hair and blue eyes.
