Boy, 10, riding 'Segway-style' scooter seriously hurt after crash with truck in Wythenshawe
A 10-year-old boy riding a scooter was seriously hurt in a crash with a truck in Wythenshawe. The youngster was riding a seated, ‘Segway-style’ scooter, before it was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit flatbed truck, police said. Emergency services rushed to the scene at the junction of Baycroft Gove and Moorcroft Road and cordoned off the road yesterday afternoon (Sunday).
The boy was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Police are now appealing for any witnesses of the crash – which happened just before 3.10pm – to come forward. Constable Jody Oakley of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This collision has resulted in a young boy receiving a very serious leg injury and our thoughts are with him as he recovers in hospital.
“If you were in the area at the time of this incident, have dash cam or CCTV footage, or saw the vehicles prior to the collision, please get in touch.” Following the crash, Moorcroft Road was cordoned off close to the junction with Baycroft Grove. Several police vehicles were stationed at the scene.
Traffic was diverted away from the area for several hours.
