19-year-old dies after crash involving lorry

A 19-year-old man has died after a crash involving a lorry in Co Down[1]..

The collision, which was reported shortly after 1pm on Tuesday June 8, occurred at Foxleigh Fields in Banbridge.

Police attended the scene, where sadly, the man was pronounced dead.

A PSNI[2] spokesperson added: “Enquiries are ongoing, and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 845 of 08/06/21.”

Meanwhile, a young family is believed to have escaped a caravan that went fire on the M1.

The incident happened at around 7am on Wednesday June 9 at junction 6 Lisburn, Belfast-bound.[3]

Emergency attended and the fire has been extinguished, with the motorway remaining open.

Trafficwatch NI said: ” #Lisburn[4] M1 citybound J6 – J3 M1 caravan fire on bus lane @goapplegreen[5] services, @NIFRSOFFICIAL[6] attending – Motorway remains open.”

Motorists are also asked to avoid the A1 between Newry and Dundalk as the carriageway is currently blocked by a lorry on fire, which has resulted in heavy smoke throughout the area.
