Driver seriously hurt in roundabout horror crash with lorry

A car driver has been seriously injured in a horror crash with a lorry.

The accident, involving a red Honda Civic and an HGV, took place at the roundabout junction of Doncaster Road and Field Lane, South Elmsall, between Doncaster[1] and Pontefract[2], in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The car driver, in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police[3] said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on Doncaster Road.

“At around 2:55am on Saturday 5 June, a red Honda Civic was travelling on Doncaster Road away from Hampole towards North Elmsall.

“There was a collision between the car and an HGV on the roundabout junction of Doncaster Road and Field Lane.

“Emergency services attended the scene.

“The driver of the car, a man in his 40s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment and he remains in hospital at this time.”
