Live updates as emergency services called to M1 crash near Derby

There are severe delays on the M1 near Derby this morning following an accident.

Highways England say paramedics and firefighters from Nottingham Fire and Rescue Service are attending the southbound crash between Junction 26 for Nottingham and Junction 25 for Derby/A52.

Two lanes are closed and a lorry and car are understood to be involved. It is not yet known if there have been any injuries.

The crash was first reported at around 6.35am.

Highways England tweeted: “The #M1[1] southbound #J26[2] (#A610[3]#Nottingham[4]) to #J25[5] (#A52[6]#Nottingham[7]#Derby[8]) 2 lanes have been closed due to a collision.

“Traffic Officers @nottsfire[9] & @EMASNHSTrust[10] are on their way to the area.”
