Overturned lorry causes delays after blocking major road

These dramatic images show an lorry overturned at Salt End.

The images, by Dave Calvert, were taken on Saturday morning at 10am of the “truck that tipped over at Salt End Roundabout”.

It comes after Humberside Police[1] Tweeted shortly before 9am to say they were going to recover the lorry.

The force[2] urged motorists to avoid the area.

“We are about to commence a recovery of a lorry near to Salt End Roundabout in Hull, whilst we carry this out motorists are asked to avoid the area if at all possible,” Humberside Police[3] Tweeted. “This will prevent a full road closure being put on.”

Meanwhile travel system Inrix reported that the roundabout was partially blocked.

“Salt End Roundabout partially blocked due to overturned lorry and recovery work at Paull Road (Salt End Flyover),” it said. “Traffic is coping well.

“A lorry is being uprighted and recovered following an earlier accident.”

But it later updated to say: “Road cleared, overturned lorry removed and recovery work completed on Salt End Roundabout at Paull Road (Salt End Flyover).

“A lorry has being uprighted and recovered following an earlier accident.”

Humberside Police also confirmed at 11.24am that recovery had completed.

“Recovery of the HGV at Salt End has now been completed and the road network is back to normal,” they said.
