Transport Canada has issued a no-fly order for airspace above the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. The federal agency announced the move in a tweet on Friday morning. “The news from last week was devastating and we stand ready to support the community and all Indigenous communities as they grieve,” the agency said on Twitter.

“In collaboration with the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc First Nation, we have issued a [notice] restricting all air traffic up to 500 feet above ground, including drones, in the Kamloops Indian Residential School area.”

Last week, TteS announced it had found the remains of 215 children buried on the grounds of the former residential school.
