Connecting Europe Express Train Starts Its Journey to Pass Through 100+ European Towns

Connecting Europe Express, an EU-joint train that will stop in almost every country on the continent, took off from Lisbon’s train station on September 2 to arrive in Paris on October 7, reaching more than 100 towns and cities throughout the journey. The train will stop in all 26 member countries and more, passing 20,000 kilometres and 33 border crossings and will enable travellers to reach their European destinations by using the sustainable option of travelling by train, reports. A press release issued by the European Commission reveals that Connecting Europe Express has been launched as part of the European Year of Rail 2021, and it was created in collaboration with 40 partners.

Conference coaches have been provided by different European railway companies such as MAV (Hungary), which will present a mobile exhibition organised by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking. Other coaches include a conference coach (provided by SNCF, France), two seating coaches provided by DB, Germany and SBB, Switzerland and a dining coach from FS, Italy. The standard train conference will also include a sleeper coach provided by OBB, Austria.

The Iberian train will be operated by Spanish operator Renfe, while Lithuanian LTG will provide the Baltic train.

The practice of green travelling includes transportation by non-carbon producing vehicles such as bicycles or using less polluting options such as shared cars and non-stop flights.
