Man fatally shot in University Park after being pushed out of a truck, police say.

A man was fatally shot Tuesday evening after being pushed out of a truck in University Park, police say.

University Park police were called about 7 p.m. to a Shell gas station in the 7000 block of Snider Plaza where they found a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound.

The gas station is near Lovers Lane and Hillcrest Avenue.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries, police said.

Police said witnesses told them that the man was pushed out of a truck moments before the gunfire, and the truck drove away before police arrived.

Police say the truck is a gold or brown newer model Ford F-150.

Witnesses told officers two people were inside the vehicle, which was last seen heading south away from the Snider Plaza shopping center, police said.

No additional information was available about what prompted the shooting, and University Park police said they are working with Dallas Sheriff Department investigators.

University Park police have not worked a homicide investigation since 2005, according to officials.

“It’s very unusual for us to be working on a homicide,” police Assistant Chief John Ball said at a news conference Tuesday.

People with information about the shooting are encouraged to call the University Park police’s non-emergency number at 214-363-3000.
